This wonderfully flavoursome honey is made from the honeydew of the boreal pine forests of Lithuania. It has a rich, earthy taste and a thick, creamy texture.
Honeydew comes from the sweet secretions of aphids or other plant sap-sucking insects. Honeydew honey is generally dark brown in colour, with a rich fragrance of stewed fruit or fig jam, and is not as sweet as nectar honey.
From late June to mid-July foraging options are getting limited in the boreal forests and the bees will likely start collecting honeydew as opposed to flowers.
Great in yoghurt, porridge and on toast, you will love this rich orange-coloured honey.
